Dad was asked multiple times, “How did you raise such good kids? What did you do to turn out kids who want to serve the Lord?”
Dad would often answer that question in the same way by saying, “My kids have a really godly mother who listens to them and a loud-mouthed father.” Then he would always add, “And by the grace of God.”
When my father went to heaven, he did not leave my siblings or me a monetary inheritance. He gave us something far greater than land, money, and possessions. He gave us a life that honored that Lord. He gave us principles that taught us how to live for the Lord. He gave us a love for the Word of God. He kept us in local, Bible-believing churches and taught us to be in church every Sunday for Sunday school, Sunday morning and Sunday evening services, and every Wednesday night. We were all beneficiaries of my dad’s commitment to Christ, and I hope I can be just a portion of the dad to my children that he was to me.
From my dad’s writings, I am pleased to give you his proverbs and principles of child rearing.
